We are a new organization that is focusing on building out policies and procedures that are equitable and supportive of the population that we serve. We are hoping to accomplish several items that include: HR Policy book Employee recruitment, engagement, and retention strategy Volunteer recruitment and management strategies and procedures Contractor policies and procedures Compensation strategy Talent Management Compliance and Documentation procedures Employee onboarding and orientation Culture building Payroll and Taxes Performance evaluations processes and procedures
These responsibilities are not meant to be taken on by one single volunteer and will have the help of three others to complete. This project is ongoing until completed and welcomes ongoing volunteers if you choose to stay on.
Yaa's Beautifully Equipped Scholarship is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to equity in learning and persistence to graduation. Our organization was created to address the chasm that exists for women of color to access resources for self care and overall wellness.
In 2016, a few women came together with what started with a monthly happy hour made exclusively for us (by us). From the conversations, that same group of women formed this scholarship fund.
Many members realized that they shared similar college experience and wanted to create a community facing fund to help break the cycle that left many feeling excluded and alone. Like the magic we are, we have created something awe-inspiring. Without the sense of community we have felt since starting our group, this beautiful idea would not have come to fruition.
With that, we created Yaa’s Beautifully Equipped Scholarship (#YAASBE). Our mission is to address the chasm that exists for women of color to access resources for self care and overall wellness. We plan on doing that by equipping scholarship recipients with tools for holistic success utilizing resources of other professional women of color in the community.
