Help with Middle School Event, City of Inver Grove Heights, MN

IGH staff are planning a new event called 5 th Quarter in partnership with the school district SPARC program. Friday, September 22 nd

Volunteer times about 8:15pm- 11:15pm (or when all the kids get picked up, we can probably start releasing volunteers and staff too at that time)

This is a high energy event and we have some specific activities we will be planning.

Summary of event: This event is geared towards middle school students to continue the fun after the homecoming game in a lock-in style event at the VMCC. There will be about 4 different stations in which they can engage in fun activities from inflatable courses, open gym, turf active games, skating and social hang area. This is a heavy staff and volunteer need event. All volunteers will also be working along side staff, no one will ever be alone with the students.

Will need about: 5 volunteers.

Tasks may include:

• Security of the exits
• ideal person is assertive enough to prevent middle schoolers from walking out the building.
• Supervision of an area
• ideal person can keep a good eye on a group of active middle schoolers to ensure everyone is staying safe and behaving. May need to work with other volunteers or staff to curb behaviors or redirect negative energies. This person may also engage and play games with students.
• Implementation of activities
• Play games or get group games started on the turf like dodgeball, soccer, kickball etc.
• Ice monitors
• Skate around on the ice ensuring everyone stays safe and are following the rules
