The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is the leading walk in the country supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (also known as IDD).
Volunteers are needed to assist with the Best Buddies 2021 Friendship Walk! Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this experience has been modified into a drive-thru and tailgate event. We expect over 500 Best Buddies in South Florida supporters to attend, and need your help in ensuring the event is inclusive and fun for participants of all ages and abilities!

Volunteers Responsibilities

  • Volunteers will be assigned to stations where they may have various duties such as registration, t-shirt giveaway, handing out food/items to participants in cars, etc.
  • We will host a Zoom info session the week of the Walk. All info will be sent out to volunteers the week before by Courteney Fitzgerald, Program Manager of Volunteers.

Dress Code

All volunteers will be given a Best Buddies T-shirt, please dress comfortably for outdoor weather such as work-out leggings/pants or shorts. Hand sanitizer stations will be available, and all volunteers must wear their masks unless eating/drinking. Volunteers will be working under tents, but a hat may make you more comfortable and sunscreen is always advised when working outdoors!

Additional Information

The volunteer shift will run 6:30 AM - 2:00PM and you will be provided with a meal. Disposable water bottles will be available, but volunteers choosing to bring their own water bottles should be aware there will be no refill stations available due to the ongoing pandemic.
