We are looking for a Paws for Comfort volunteer who has an obedience trained animal to visit our hospice patient's. Years ago I had an Alzheimer's patient who continually cried out in pain, so we brought in the pet therapy dog... she immediately fell in love with 'Rock" and he laid by her side for hours letting her continually pet him. Her pain levels decreased as well as her anxiousness.
Rock visited once a week until she passed. Rock has retired so we are looking for another volunteer team to provide emotional support to our patients who love animals.

Mission Statement
At Enhabit Home Health & Hospice, we believe hospice is not a place, but rather a philosophy of care. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort home by offering compassionate care to patients and their families during the final stages of life.
Description
Enhabit is looking for direct patient and administrative volunteers to provide support to patients during their final months and weeks of life. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members. As a hospice volunteer, you will be given choices as to how much time and what types of things you want to do. Weekly patient calls, flexible free training. Enhance your resume and scholarship applications.
A few ways you can help as a hospice volunteer is by running errands for patients and families, playing games or reading with patients, walking and caring for family pets, or even creating a photo album of the patient and their family.
