Encompass Health Hospice

To provide comfort and happiness through pet therapy visits. Due to Covid 19 we are only providing outside or porch visits. Many patient's love animals and instantly feel better when an animal visits. Most pet therapy volunteers are dogs and each owner must attend obedience training and be certified to visit patient's. All requirements can be shared during the initial volunteer interview. To see an Alzheimer patient cry with joy over a sweet dog visiting is beyond heartwarming and priceless. Eventually Covid 19 will be over and we hope the restrictions will be lifted in the near future. The hope is to have Pet Therapy Volunteers hospice and obedience class trained so they can visit as soon as the restrictions are lifted.

Mission Statement

At Encompass Health Hospice, we believe hospice is not a place but rather a philosophy of care. Our goal is to bring dignity and comfort home by offering compassionate care to patient's and their families during the final stages of their life.

Encompass Health Hospice is looking for Direct patient care and Administrative support volunteers to provide services to patients during their final stages of life. Volunteers provide non-medical services and respite time for caregivers and family members as well as clerical support for the administrative staff. As a hospice volunteer you will be given a choice as how much time you wish to donate and what type of services you would like to provide.

A few ways you can help as a hospice volunteer is by running errands for patients and families, playing games or reading with patients, walking and caring for family pets, or even creating a photo album of the patient and their family.
