Literacy Delaware is seeking volunteers throughout the state to tutor adults in basic reading or English language instruction. No experience is necessary. All necessary training is provided. Upon completion of training, tutors will be matched with learners. Learners and tutors will hold lessons on mutually agreed upon days and times.

  • Volunteers are matched with adult learner(s), individuals or small groups, who need reading, writing and/or English language instruction.
  • Volunteers receive necessary training and instructional materials.
  • Volunteers meet weekly with learner(s) at mutually convenient times and locations; this can be done virtually, online, or in person.
  • Support is always available when needed.

We empower Delawareans through literacy. We use trained volunteer tutors to offer instruction to adults with limited literacy and English language skills.
