New neighbors seeking food has increased tenfold since. In one year, 450 volunteers contribute more than 19,000 hours of service to the Spokane Valley Partners. Without this tremendous contribution from dedicated individuals, businesses, schools and church groups our hungry neighbors would not receive the food they need. From sorting clothing to rescuing food and greeting clients each function is essential to our mission and operation.
One function filled by volunteers is our receptionist. These volunteers are critical to our mission and service delivery. A great fit is someone with loads of compassion for the community we serve, desire to help people in need, ability to use a computer, answer telephone, and greet guests. We have 2 shifts available: 8 am-12:15pm and 12:15pm- 4:30pm. Generally volunteers commit to 1 shift per week. Duties may include:
- Greet the public.
- Provide compassionate customer service.
- Answer and operate multi-line telephone system, take messages, make food bank appointments.
- Announce and direct visitors, clients, and guests.
- Receive donations of food and money from walk-in donors.
- Distribute emergency food bags to walk in clients and provide requested appropriate resource information.
