PLEASE READ!

Scholars is Wesley-Rankin’s newest initiative, in partnership with the June Shelton School, to provide reading, spelling, and handwriting intervention for students with learning differences. Shelton is the largest independent school worldwide for intelligent students with learning differences.

How does the program work? The WR Scholars Program offers tutoring using Shelton’s SEE (Sequential English Education) curriculum and a multisensory structured language (MSL) approach.

Auditory and memory exercises are also included.

The typical Scholars program meets at Wesley-Rankin with students for three hours each Saturday from 9:00-12:00, offering a 1:2 ratio of volunteers to students.

Due to COVID-19, Scholars is being offered virtually and in-person during Spring and Summer 2021.

The summer program will operate from 10:00-12:00 Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays.

We hope to resume typical program hours as soon as possible.

We need tutors. Wesley-Rankin has high hopes to grow this program. Yet, we can only take additional students when we have additional tutors. Potential tutors can serve once per month or more frequently, as able. For volunteers willing to commit to at least three weeks per month, he/she qualifies for paid tutor positions. All training materials are provided.

Training sessions are available at the Shelton School and Wesley-Rankin.

Each training is 2 days.

Summer Training: Thurs. June 10 and Fri. June 11, 2021 (9:00-4:00)
