The Marketing and Outreach Chair serves as the primary lead for creating awareness of the disease through the promotion of Walk to End Alzheimer’s. This position will assemble a Subcommittee to build public awareness of Walk through local media outlets, social media and grassroots marketing efforts.


Qualifications:

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of the local community and media outlets.
  • Familiarity with grassroots marketing tactics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Meet with the Event Chair, Co-Chair and Staff Partner to develop a plan to promote Walk to End Alzheimer’s in the community to ensure participant goals are met.
  • Recruit and train the Marketing and Outreach Subcommittee, whose main responsibility is to help promote Walk through in-kind media, social media and grassroots marketing activities.
  • Manage the Marketing and Outreach Subcommittee meetings/check-ins to monitor progress and ensure everyone is on target to meet their goals.
  • Work with Staff Partner to develop a plan to engage local media outlets and implement strategies to secure donated media.
  • Assist with promoting the Walk through Social Media.
  • Identify :"Why I Walk" stories for media, distribute press releases, arrange interviews and media coverage on event day, and work with the Mission Chair to prepare spokespeople.
  • Coordinate the delivery of brochures, posters and fliers to distribution points in the community by organizing a Community Blitz Day.
  • Schedule tabling opportunities at local community events in order to promote Walk.
  • Work closely with other Subcommittees, including Sponsorship and Logistics, to ensure all benefit obligations are met.
  • Help identify opportunities to expand outreach into diverse communities.
  • Ensure all appropriate media outlets and Marketing and Outreach Subcommittee members are appropriately recognized.

Committee Expectations:

  • Have a willingness to learn about and support the Alzheimer’s Association and its mission.
  • Make necessary time commitment.
  • Complete the Partnership Agreement with the Event Chair and Staff Partner.
  • Be an active participant on our online community, Walk Central.
  • Adhere to the Walk timeline and continually report progress to the Event Chair.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm and show appreciation to your subcommittee members when achieving event goals.
