SNAP Into Action with HFA (High School & YA)

Want to learn about food insecurity and programs to help families? Want to increase hunger awareness in your community? Have some friends or classmates who are also interested in learning more?
SNAP into Action with HFA for Global Youth Service Day in partnership with United Activities Unlimited! Volunteers will learn more about hunger in the US and resources to alleviate food insecurity through our SNAP simulation, followed by a digital content creation project to raise hunger awareness and share community resources.
Participants will:
- Learn more about hunger/food insecurity and their root causes.
- Learn more about healthy and complete nutrition.
- Learn about programs/resources to alleviate hunger/food insecurity.
- Learn about the civic process to raise hunger awareness and support programs that alleviate food insecurity
- Create digital content around what was learned and share within participant networks.
**This workshop is targeted towards participation from high school students and young adults**

HUNGER FREE AMERICA (formerly known as the New York City Coalition Against Hunger) is a national nonprofit group building a nonpartisan, grass-roots membership movement to enact the policies and programs needed to end domestic hunger and ensure that all Americans have sufficient access to nutritious food.
Our long-term goal is not just to ameliorate the problem, but also to build the people’s movement necessary to enact the economic and public policies needed to end hunger entirely. Given that hunger drains our economy and tears at our moral and civic fabric, we know that eliminating it will boost the nation both economically and spiritually. Towards that end, we’ve adopted the motto: "Ending hunger lifts us all."
