Title: Volunteer & Outreach Coordinator
Pay Grade: Volunteer
Hours: Part-time, flexible, 12 - 16 hours/week, currently works from home
Benefits: Free annual BCZ membership with access to free and discounted creative materials, free admission to monthly creative upcycling workshop, ongoing recognition and training.
Recruits/Supervises/Schedules: Key Volunteer positions including Inventory Manager, Marketing/Website Intern, Beach Clean Up Captain, Beach Clean Up Teams.
Reports to: Executive Director/Chief Muse
Key Duties (over time as we are new):
- Establish, periodically review and update Volunteer application and handbook
- Attend outreach events/meetings (online or in person when safe), recruit new Volunteers, educate about BCZ mission
- Screen/interview Volunteers, determine best position and fit with BCZ
- Train, coach and support Volunteers for key, ongoing positions
- Schedule Volunteers for daily operations, classes, beach cleanups and special events/outreach booths
- Develop strong rapport and creatively recognize Volunteers on weekly, monthly and annual basis. Recognize on holidays and Birthdays as appropriate
- Create and maintain Volunteer database and track hours of service
- Provide monthly statistical report for board meeting and communicate Volunteer needs/tools/supplies
Key Skills/Experience:
- People person with savvy leadership, respectful and actively promotes diversity and equity, in all its forms, and able to place people well--right volunteer, right role. Past experience managing Volunteers or Staff required (hire/coach/fire and documentation)
- Enjoys public speaking, networking and is passionate about the mission.
- Manages calendar and scheduling well
- Working knowledge of Microsoft suite including excel, Google documents, Google Drive, Facebook, and Zoom.
- Comfortable making occasional flyers, online invitations and brochures (or finding a Volunteer to collaborate with for needed outreach materials)
- Willingness to utilize personal phone and computer. Can use BCZ phone number and have calls forwarded to personal number during working hours.

Our Purpose is to get creative with stuff we SAVE from the landfill; deconstruct, sort, clean and store items for use in upcycling, repurposing, fix it and funky art projects with our "Good Home" Processing Center and "Junky into Funky" programs. We revere used and found items, creativity and experiential S.T.E.A.M. based education.
