Do you want to learn more about agriculture or are you seeking away to give back to the community? Whether you are looking to help out once in awhile or in an ongoing manner, there is a way for you to plug in as a Canticle Farm volunteer.

Our volunteer opportunities offer a variety of projects throughout each season. Farm projects include planting, seeding, tending to the herbs and flowers, weeding, harvesting clean-up and more. Groups of volunteers are sought for periodic carrot harvesting, the annual garlic harvesting, the ongoing tending of the reflection area, and more.

Non-field volunteer opportunities include: grant seeking/writing, participation on the Board of Director and various committees, as well as fundraising projects.

Whenever you have time, need to put your hands in the dirt, and think about something new, contact the Canticle Farm Volunteer Coordinator - Kristin DiLorenzo at volunteer@canticlefarm.org, She will find a place for you!

Mission Statement

The mission of Canticle Farm, a ministry sponsored by the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany (FSA), is to reverence, protect, and honor the sacredness of God’s creation. Canticle Farm, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) farm, is committed to connect all peoples, to practice Earth friendly habits and to come to a realization of a Creation centered spirituality.

Description

Canticle Farm, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was founded in 2001 in Allegany, NY, by the forward-thinking FSA as a ministry to the local community to provide fresh, healthy, locally grown food using sustainable farming methods without the use of synthetic or chemical applications.

Our philosophy is based on FSA’s concept of guidance through a justice-focused purpose using a model of land preservation that produces safe, naturally grown produce for all people.

The Franciscan tradition is fully revealed in Canticle Farm’s symbiotic farming practices, stewardship and respect for land, and loving care for the health of the greater community’s citizens. All practices and operations of the farm are embodied in fulfilling the mission and providing for the food security and health of the area’s families, along with educational opportunities.

We also donate produce to a wide variety of organizations engaged in alleviating food insecurity throughout Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in NY, and McKean County in PA, through our Sponsored Share Program, which is supported by grants and donations from religious groups and societies, local organizations, individuals and friends of the farm.
