My Brutha’s Keeper Inc. is searching for a talented and professional Community Advocate to assist in the planning and implementation of our outreach strategies. This person will primarily be responsible for connecting people in the broader community and MBK, Inc. by creating sponsorship agreements and cultivating relationships with businesses, individuals, and other relevant organizations. In addition, this person will work with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that will increase the organization visibility within the surrounding community, as well as educating the community about the work of the MBK, Inc. and it’s importance.
You need to be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and community-driven to take on this exciting role. This position requires an initial commitment of three months. All staff are expected to participate in weekly team meeting (in-person or virtually), have at least 5 hours of community contact per-week, and attend at least one event/tabling opportunity per quarter. Volunteers typically work 4-8 hrs per week, and 2-4 hours per event. The ideal person for this position is a visionary and someone that is dedicated to uplifting/serving those individuals in need.
Core Responsibilities:
Produce and coordinate community and program related activities, implement specific projects, and identify opportunities for collaboration.
Document community issues/interests, provide access to resources, engage and build community support/ buy-in to achieve issue resolution.
Build/maintain relationships and collaborations to implement and support Center and community activities with community
Implement and support community-based events to promote partner communities as vibrant
Build partnerships with local businesses and organizations.
Assist with marketing events open to the public organized by the Developer.
Solicit sponsorship for community events.
Encourage all participants to participate in some or all of the monthly activities. Maintain a record of participant attendance and analyze program success/failure.
Prepare or direct preparation of a robust monthly community newsletter in order to inform residents, families, prospects, and referral sources of major events at the community.
Update applicable websites with Lifestyle Information and utilize multiple communication methods to assist with marketing community events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Associates degree in communications, marketing, business, or related fields.
Preferred experience of 1-3 years within non-profit fundraising or outreach activities.
Outstanding written communication and presentation skills.
Friendly, enthusiastic, and positive attitude.
Strong knowledge of social media and other basic marketing platforms.
Detail-orientated with the ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
