Here at Sertoma Centre, we provide opportunities that empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve personal success. We help over 2,000 individuals annually in the Greater Chicago Southside neighborhoods -and we need volunteers like you to support our mission!

The Volunteer Opportunity:
Become a Sertoma Storyteller and help us build our digital library. We need many awesome volunteers to choose a short story, magazine article, or book and videotape themselves reading aloud. With your help, we can provide our programs with personalized literacy and reading comprehension materials.

We are open to most subjects and that are written at an adult reading level. Many of our consumers have said they are interested in non-fiction books or articles about animals, traveling, employment, and life challenges among other topics.

We will also gladly accept any donated books to be raffled off to consumers. They would love that!

Service hours available. Please let us know if you have any questions.
