WesleyLife Hospice is looking for individuals to help provide extra support to patients and caregivers during this isolating time.
Opportunities Available Include:
- Companion Calls - Regularly scheduled calls to provide companionship through conversation with the patient or caregiver
- Tuck-in Calls - Weekly calls to check-in with the patient or caregiver to ensure all needs are met before the weekend (scripts provided and calls should be placed on Thursday's)
- 1 Year Anniversary of Death Bereavement Calls - call the bereaved loved ones to let them know we are still thinking of them and that are bereavement services are still available to them
Required:
WesleyLife Hospice volunteers are required to complete a volunteer application, pass a background check, pass a physical and drug screen, and complete hospice and dependent adult abuse training. Because we require volunteers to submit to a physical and drug screen at one of our partner hospitals, we require volunteers to be within the state of Iowa. Other requirements may be added if the volunteer takes on another role within WesleyLife Hospice.
If you would like more information please contact Madison Staecker, Volunteer Coordinator at 515.271.6777 or mstaecker@wesleylife.org. Thank you for your interest in volunteering with WesleyLife Hospice!
One of our volunteers shares about what it means to volunteer for WesleyLife Hospice: "Being a volunteer for WesleyLife Hospice means the world to me. I have personally been through hospice with multiple family members, and being a volunteer for hospice now means I can make the experience pleasing for others. To know you are helping someone and comforting them makes me feel very happy to be a volunteer. The best part of being a volunteer is being there for someone who might not have anyone, and letting them know they are not alone. The connections I have made through volunteering are some that I will cherish and be thankful for." - Lindsey

Our comprehensive network of services is designed to fulfill the wishes of older adults to remain independent and active wherever they choose to live. Because we have a vision of transforming the aging experience, we focus not on limitations, but on possibilities.
