Want to make a difference?
Do you like working with children? Do you value education? If so, help a child in need succeed. Many of our program partners serve kids from low-income and/or otherwise underprivileged backgrounds--provide them with the added support their families cannot currently afford.
Commitments tend to be about once or twice a week. Some are during the school day and others are after school.
Connect with RSVP to learn more about which of our partner organizations may be the best fit for you given student ages, subjects covered, times of day, computer/tech skills, geographic preferences (we work with programs across most boroughs), etc.
Please note: while earlier in the COVID-19 pandemic a number or our tutoring partners transitioned their version of this typically in-person role to a remote/virtual format, as time goes on more and more are shifting back to in-person (as many already have!) or maintain both remote/virtual and in-person options. Whatever your preferences, let RSVP know and we will tell you what is currently available.

Mission Statement
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic, and political opportunities.
Description
AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP in New York City matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, our program is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 of us which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
