Bookkeeper Job Description
Purpose: To produce and maintain accurate financial transactions (purchases, expenses, all sources of revenue in appropriate software applications which ultimately result in accurate general ledgers, monthly and YTD balance sheet and income statements.
Qualifications:
Basic accounting knowledge along with understanding of accounting best practices
Data entry skills
Associates degree preferred or at least two years bookkeeping experience
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Organizational skills and attention to detail
Good with numbers
Good people skills
Reports to: Board Treasurer
Working Arrangements: Virtual; flexible hours; 4 - 10 hours a week
Job Duties
- Maintain accurate records of financial transaction, incoming and outgoing.
- Update and maintain general ledger.
- Reconcile entries into the accounting system to ensure accuracy.
- Maintain Equiforce data base of donors and donations.
- Advise President of all donations within two days of receipt to enable timely "thank yous".
- Work with Program Coordinator in administering scholarship program for eligible candidates.
- Send out rider invoices and maintain accounts receivable for each session.
- Work with parents/guardians experiencing payment issues and keep Treasurer appraised.
- Work with third party payers to ensure timely and applicable payment for services.
- Handle accounts payable.
- Prepare and submit staff payroll to third party contractor (2-3 employees) once a month.
- Work with Treasurer in preparing Monthly/YTD financials; required state and federal payroll reports; year-end donation letters and other reporting requirements.
- All other duties as may be assigned.

Description
Cloud Dancers Therapeutic Horsemanship Program, Inc. (Cloud Dancers) was founded in 1982 to address the needs of individuals with disabilities, age 5 and older, through fun and beneficial riding activities and bonds with special horses. We are a 501c(3) non-profit organization located in Albuquerque's north valley.
Our PATH (Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship) certified instructors and trained volunteers work with families in developing goals and implementing fun activities that booster self-esteem and confidence, improve flexibility, balance, core & muscle strength, hand-eye coordination, social and communication skills, ability to follow instructions, and more. While improving quality of life, riders are developing bonds with horses who are intuitive, non-judgmental and loving and are having fun. Many of our riders call Cloud Dancer "their happy place".
Imagine a young man with Cerebral Palsy who has been in a wheel chair most of his life, riding atop a 1,000 pound horse, with his hands in the air, shouting "I'm free". As a volunteer with Cloud Dancers, you will experience as much joy and benefit as our riders do.
Volunteer positions include working hands-on with horses and riders, as well as administrative support roles in social media, photography & videography, data entry & statistical gathering, maintenance and grounds, marketing and fund raising.
