Handy volunteers needed to help with farm projects on our 20-acre farm animal rescue.

Urgent project: finish up a bird village & chicken/turkey coop

On-going projects:

  • fence mending
  • building maintenance
  • simple carpentry & fix-it projects
We're especially looking for people who:
  • Are available Saturday mornings
  • Want to share their time & handyperson skills helping out a good cause
  • Have some experience using a drill, hammer, hand saw, etc.

Our mission is to inspire a compassionate, healthy and earth-friendly way for all beings to live together and to share our rescue farm with vulnerable people in our community so that they can experience a healing connection to others, to nature and to themselves.

Description

Graze in Peace is a farm animal sanctuary and learning center located on 20 acres just north of Portland, Maine. Our current rescued residents include chickens, turkeys, pigs, goats, sheep and llamas. Along with sanctuary to over 60 farmed animals, we offer humane education, community outreach, and therapeutic Care Farm activities where displaced, disadvantaged or disabled people can come use the therapeutic setting of our rescue farm as a place for healing and learning.
