ORGANIZATION: Friends of MJHS

We are looking for an experienced fundraiser / development director / grant writer to join our team and help us develop SoulPhamm United - a new nonprofit organization that provides sports and arts programs for youth in New York and New Jersey. You can learn more about us at soulphamm.org.

The program currently has dance, step, cheer and music groups and will be expanding to include basketball and other activities this coming summer. The program currently includes about 50 young people - almost evenly spread across New York City and New Jersey.

We are currently a subordinate organization under the Amateur Athletic Union (which is a 501c3 organization), but our goal is to eventually come out from under them and apply for our own tax exempt determination.

Our program is 100% volunteer led and run and we are at the mercy of renting studios in New York and New Jersey - which costs almost $80,000 per year. This is paid for through modest dues from our family and light fundraising. Our goal for next season 2021-2022 is to position ourselves to be able to get our own space (a savings of almost $30,000) and be able to offer a small stipend to the dedicated volunteers who make our program what it is.

The candidate will take the lead in developing fundraisers that we can participate in and will have any number of "soldiers" to carry on whatever directions he/she gives. The individual will work with our Director in scouting out donation, grant and sponsorship opportunities and will take the lead on applying for these. Creativity, a love for young people and a sense of humor are absolute musts!

Someone who is outgoing with significant experience fundraising/grant writing for nonprofits is strongly preferred. Please indicate your experience when you reach out.
