The basics

Volunteers with Sierra Club have the opportunity to work on a wide range of environmental issues, with many different ways to help out across the state! Depending on your interests or skills you want to develop, Sierra Club organizers will connect you with current opportunities and campaigns that the Club is working on.

The kind of things volunteers work on include:

  • Joining other volunteers to provide public comment to legislators
  • Forming a team to write Letters to the Editor
  • Phone and text banking to garner support for environmental legislation
  • Writing blog posts or creating other media content
  • Organizing educational events or hikes (when we are safe to do so - currently all events are virtual)
  • Administrative/Data Entry
  • Staffing booths at community events/ outreach
  • Joining an issues committee to help organize the Chapter’s environmental advocacy work. Current committees include: Conservation, Energy, Environmental Justice, National Forests, Transportation & Land Use, and Water & Salmon.

And more! As a volunteer-driven, grassroots organization, we are here to work together to protect air, land, and water for all.
