Saturday Lake St. Food Distribution

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: SOURCE MN INC

Thank you for your interest in helping Source MN. Our lake street food distribution happens on the 3rd Saturday of each month. Come experience the joy of serving our neighbors. If you are interested in volunteering please go to https://sourcemn.org/signup/ and sign up for a shift. You may choose more than one shift, but our most needed shifts are the latter two.

Due to the economic impact of Covid-19, we have witnessed a hunger crisis in our city, and food shelves across the county have seen an increase in those unitizing their services.

Source MN volunteer opportunities are COVID-safe (to the best of our abilities). We ask that all volunteers wear a mask and wash their hands or use hand sanitizer regularly. We also ask that no people volunteer with Source who have knowingly had contact with someone experiencing COVID-19 in the past 10 days. We also ask that no people volunteer with Source MN who are currently experiencing any of the following COVID-19 symptoms: cough, shortness of breath, fever, chills, muscle aches, sore throat, vomiting, or a new loss of taste or smell.

If you are looking for other food shelf opportunities please email volunteer@sourcemn.org!

About SOURCE MN INC

Location:

2609 STEVENS AVE, MINNEAPOLIS, MN 55408, US

Mission Statement

Through urban outreach and anti-trafficking efforts, Source empowers the at-risk and unreached to make a break from the past and build foundations for the future.

Description

WHO WE SERVE

Urban poor, homeless youth, victims of prostitution and drug abuse-along with anti-mainstream individuals and emerging artists-all who are trying to overcome walls built by victimization and skepticism. SOURCE has been serving the at-risk and unreached since 1987 in one of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country.

URBAN OUTREACH a friend and a voice
To make a lasting impact, we serve physical, emotional and spiritual needs. That is why we follow a holistic approach of Hope and Opportunity. Our goal is to be a friend who serves people’s needs, along with a voice that communicates God’s love and forgiveness. Our food shelf, community meals and creative events allow us to make contact and build trust to speak Hope and then offer Opportunity for lasting life change through mentorship, transitional homes and life-skill programs.

ANTI-TRAFFICKING opportunities & empowerment
Empowering sex-trafficking victims to get out and not return to the past lifestyle is possible when recovery resources are available. Often accessibility to after-care and supportive community is missing after treatment. Through our Annex Network of prevention, outreach, recovery resources and transitional homes, we’ve established a model that allows partnerships with local organizations and congregations who desire to make an impact in their own backyard.
