In May, 2021, we are converting a group dwelling for sustainability. This project will involve lifting a roof, and moving the south wall so a solar greenhouse can be attached. We'll also convert a large bedroom into two medium bedrooms, moving closer to our goal of six residents.
Volunteers will support the construction project, either directly (building) or indirectly (cooking, garden, and other tasks). Before and after the construction, garden and land care projects will be offered, depending on skills.
Social distancing will be observed. There is space for newcomers to quarantine, doing work projects in garden or woods, eating separately until cleared. (The host is fully vaccinated.)
While longer-term volunteers are desired, short-term volunteers are also welcome, within space and safety limits.
There is housing (private room) for two volunteers, camping or shared accommodations for others. Food is provided.

About Mountains and Waters Alliance

Mission Statement
Mountains and Waters Alliance exists to heal the deep cause of the climate emergency in the rift between the dominant human culture and the whole of life on earth. Together with all beings, we protect and restore the living earth. We create and nourish communities, rooted in meditation and ceremony, that practice farming as activism and defend land, water, and life as healing work; we learn, teach, and invite others to join us.
Description
We begin on seventeen acres in Minnesota, farming, regenerating woodlands and wetlands, learning from the land, apprenticing ourselves to the land. Zen meditation is a daily part of our life here.
Now in our seventh year, we have hosted community celebrations, volunteer days, meditation retreats, and residential work-study. We've foraged and gardened, planted fruit trees and berries, made trails, visited the river. In 2019 we built a meditation hall, in 2021 we begin creating a solar greenhouse.
