The Urban Outreach Center (UOC) of New York City is a non-profit human services organization founded in 1990 whose concentration is to provide extensive services (food, clothing, hygiene essentials, and many social services) for the most vulnerable populations in NYC. The UOC mission is to work collaboratively with low-income people, immigrants, and women - particularly women of color - to ensure access to material necessities for all, build supportive networks and relationships, and advocate for a more just, equitable, and inclusive New York City. UOC successfully helps nearly 50,000 vulnerable New Yorkers each year to move with dignity out of homelessness and food insecurity toward self-sufficiency -- and looks forward to helping many more!

Mental health is directly proportional to the wellbeing of the mind and body both physically, emotionally, and mentally. Approximately 1 in 5 New Yorkers display symptomatic behavior in correlation to mental disorders like depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Unfortunately, there are many barriers that prevent individuals from obtaining treatment like stigmas, symptoms that prevent them from consciously recognizing conditions/abnormal behavior(s), and insurance limitations.

UOC would like to create free mental health services for those who are in need -- as such, we welcome the opportunity for licensed clinicians, social workers, psychologists, counselors, and other related professionals to volunteer for our organization. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, there will be workshops conducted either virtually or in-person (using adequate precautions; social distancing, mask-wearing, sanitized stations, etc).

If interested, please feel free to contact us via email (angelo@uocnyc.org) or call Angelo Gonzalez at (212-288-6743)
.

We hope that you join the Urban Outreach community and look forward to hearing from you soon
