Volunteer Position Title: Tomoka Basin State Parks CSO Social Media Content Creator VIRTUAL VOLUNTEER

Park: Tomoka Basin State Parks - This position is virtual and can be done from anywhere!

Volunteer Manager: Aggie Armstrong - aggie.armstrong@floridadep.gov

Job Type: Administration; virtual

Month Availability: Any/immediate

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours/month

Position Goal: To increase awareness of the Tomoka Basin State Parks, its Friends group, and to increase number of Facebook page followers; to provide regular, topical content about Basin parks for page followers.

Regular Job Duties: Create content for the Friends of Tomoka Basin State Parks Facebook page on a regular basis (2-3 posts/week). Develop content calendar for review by volunteer manager. Research Basin parks, their natural and cultural resources, events, current staff/volunteers and other offerings and prepare well-structured drafts using digital word processing and publishing platforms. Content created will be submitted to CSO President for posting.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required: Must have a current Volunteer Application on file (renewed annually); must have a current Volunteer Agreement on file (renewed annually); must complete or renew required annual training.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Preferred: Experience creating social media posts; correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; ability to work independently and receive feedback; ability to communicate with volunteer coordinator online via a virtual webcam application; amateur photography skills; ability to travel to parks to take pictures

Volunteer Benefits:

  • Ability to log up to 10 hours of volunteer time per month that can be applied to community service, school, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate with volunteers and park staff at Tomoka Basin State Parks

  • Contribute 50 hours of service and receive 6 free park entries to any state park excluding Ellie Schiller Homosassa Wildlife State Park, Skyway Fishing Pier State Park, and Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
  • Contribute 250 hours of service and receive one year of free admission to all parks excluding Ellie Schiller Homosassa Wildlife State Park, Skyway Fishing Pier State Park, and Weeki Wachee Springs State Park
  • Volunteer recognition events, certificates, awards and more!
