ORGANIZATION: Sertoma Centre, Inc.

*Here at Sertoma Centre, we provide opportunities that empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve personal success. We help over 2,000 individuals annually in the Greater Chicago Southside neighborhoods -and we need volunteers like you to support our mission!*

Sertoma Centre is currently looking for 2-3 people from the community to join our Human Rights Committee. Committee members give feedback on behavior plans and rights restrictions for individuals served at the agency, so confidentiality is very important. There is a brief training provided for new members and they will need to review some paperwork prior to the first meeting. We appreciate people who are willing to speak up and would take an active role in the committee.

DHS requires that these members are not employees or former employees of the agency, that they do not work for another similar organization, and that they are not related to a consumer receiving services from Sertoma (and have not ever received services from us). They also can't be "associated" with the agency, such as a board member or contractual employee.

The meeting is on the third Tuesday of the month, via Zoom at 10am. It is usually a 75-90 minute commitment. It will continue to be a Zoom meeting even after the shutdown is over.
