Silicon Valley WTEA Planning Committee

Over 6 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease or another dementia. The Alzheimer’s Association is a volunteer-driven organization, and we are looking for passionate volunteers to serve on the planning committee for the 2021 Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's. We are looking for natural leaders, creative types, resourcefulness, people with a can-do attitude, a good sense of humor, a willingness to step up and help out, and those who want to meet others who also care deeply about ending Alzheimer's. Whatever your talents, we have a role for you! We are physically located in San Jose, CA, and are seeking volunteers from all over the Bay Area. At this time all opportunities are virtual until it is safe to gather together.

The full committee meets monthly, and we are actively seeking new members for 2021. We are currently meeting virtually until it's safe to do so in person.

In addition to the monthly meeting, Sub-Committees also meet once a month, and there are additional activities that you can complete on your own time.

Currently, we are seeking additional members for our Retention and Recruitment Committees:

  • Retention - Do you like to build relationships? Are you good at coaching? Like to make phone calls? Our Retention Team works with Participants of past Walks to encourage and coach them to increase their fundraising. We provide the scripts and training and you provide your time. Please join us!
  • Recruitment - Are you a social butterfly with lots of connections? Do you belong to a Fraternal Club or Sorority? Do you have connections with faith-based organizations or local chambers? Do you enjoy talking to people and offering encouragement? We need you on the Recruitment team. Our Recruitment team works closely with our Company Engagement team to bring new Teams and Walkers to our event. We provide the scripts and training and you provide your time and connections. Join us!

Due to Covid-19, the 2020 Walk to End Alzheimer's was not held as a large gathering, but rather the walk was "Everywhere." In 2021 we hope to gather together again in some capacity, but we also anticipate some type of hybrid event incorporating elements of the 2020 Walk.
