Farms To Grow, Inc Logo

The Urban Garden Project provides direct assistance to Yolanda Burrell, a small business owner and master gardener. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Yolanda made the difficult decision to close her brick & mortar store Pollinate Farm & Garden, which she owned and operated in Oakland for nearly eight years. Yolanda is in the process of expanding her home garden into an urban farm with the goal of bringing her produce directly to market via the Farms to Grow CSA program. Volunteers are needed to help out with a variety of gardening tasks, including but not limited to soil preparation, weeding, transplanting starter plants into the ground, sowing seeds, harvesting fruits and vegetables, and collecting honey. Volunteers have the privilege of working alongside Yolanda and learning from her immense knowledge of gardening, beekeeping, and urban farming.

The Urban Garden Project takes place every Wednesday from 8:30am-12:30pm and every other Sunday from 8:30am-12:30pm in Oakland.
