About the Center for Contemplative Research (CCR):
The Center for Contemplative Research in Crestone, Colorado, has been founded by Dr. Alan Wallace with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Our purpose is to join contemplative and scientific inquiry to create a new science of consciousness. We provide a conducive environment at our hermitage for deep contemplative study and practice, while collaborating with scientists on studies exploring the potentials of human consciousness and the cultivation of genuine happiness. In order to catalyze a revolution in the mind sciences and nurture a renaissance in the world’s great contemplative traditions, the Center for Contemplative Research provides a conducive environment, combined with sustained training in rigorous methods of contemplative practice, to enable expert meditators to make replicable discoveries about the nature and potentials of consciousness, while engaging in collaborative research with cognitive and physical scientists. In the spirit of radical empiricism, while challenging unquestioned assumptions, we seek to discover the deepest sources of mental health, well-being, and environmental flourishing. And to share that knowledge with our world.
