Hours: 10 hours a week, scheduled at their discretion, plus 3-hour weekly

About the Center for Contemplative Research (CCR):

The Center for Contemplative Research in Crestone, Colorado, has been founded by Dr. Alan Wallace with the blessings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Our purpose is to join contemplative and scientific inquiry to create a new science of consciousness. We provide a conducive environment at our hermitage for deep contemplative study and practice, while collaborating with scientists on studies exploring the potentials of human consciousness and the cultivation of genuine happiness. We believe that this work is essential to advance knowledge, wisdom and well-being - helping to restore balance where it has been lost, in the lives of individuals and in the global community as a whole.

Job overview:

Community Development Team Leaders are responsible for nurturing and delivering a a strong sense of community across all CCR: volunteers, staff, and allies (including international sangha, scientists and foundations). Community Development Team Leaders are responsible for implementing an end-to-end volunteer and staff management process that is responsive to legal requirements and CCR’s values. They work closely with, and in support of, the other Executive Team Leaders and their teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Establish ways to ensure a common understanding of CCR’s Purpose, Mission, Visions and Values.
  • Plan and implement opportunities to keep all volunteers, staff and allies informed about CCR developments.
  • Inspire participation and a sense of accomplishment by showcasing diverse contributions.
  • Offer feedback opportunities that can engender a sense that everyone’s voice is valued.
  • Work with Executive Team Leaders to evaluate and plan special events and benefits for those who help us.
  • Attract, research and recommend appropriate candidates for openings identified by team leaders.
  • Support new hire onboarding experiences making all feel welcome.
  • Review, document, update, and manage both candidate records and job requisitions.
  • Work with Executive Team Leaders on volunteer and staff evaluations.
  • Support Executive Team Leaders when volunteer and/or staff are placed on probation and/or released.
  • Develop and/or update on boarding and off boarding policies and procedures.
  • Develop, update and disseminate the volunteer/staff handbook.
  • Submit annual budget requests that allow for implementation of the above ideas.
  • Attend weekly management team meetings, currently scheduled at 1:30PM MST on most Saturdays.

Preferred Job Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience with HR processes including risk management.
  • Familiarity with HR management software.
  • Experience recruiting and working with a combination of volunteers and employees.
  • Strong communication skills with timely follow up.

Preferred Personal Attributes:

  • Strong ethics and accountability.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently remotely.
  • Ability to work well within all levels of management as a team, with a kind and caring attitude.
  • Inspired by the CCR’s purpose, mission, vision.
  • Experience with Contemplative Inquiry such as a meditation practice.
  • Familiarity with the teachings of B. Alan Wallace or other proponents of Contemplative Inquiry.
