ORGANIZATION: Volunteers for Community Impact

StoryCorps is a non-profit with a platform to help people preserve stories and personal history for all to enjoy and learn from. Volunteers for Community Impact is looking for Virtual Interviewers of storytellers who want to share such a story. The story will be audio-recorded and facilitated by the Interviewer who will ask questions to help guide the conversation.

Prior to the recording, Interviewers will review informational power points, review the questions to be asked and have a brief phone introduction with the storyteller.

Stories can cover any range of topics. Here are examples of topics we wanted to cover: the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam War, life lessons learned through the current pandemic, hurricane preparation. We would love stories specific to Orange County to show how the county took shape, where we are now, and what the future may hold. Please be aware that the interviewer may not be able to choose which story they interview.

The Interviewer will be responsible for setting up the recording and archiving it afterward. Explicit written instructions will be provided as well as support from the RSVP Coordinator.

In order for stories to be captured, the Interviewer needs a computer with a microphone and an e-mail address that's all! If the computer doesn’t have a microphone, one can be checked out from the Volunteers for Community Impact Office in Orlando.

Interviewers can conduct the conversations for one or more stories. Each new story will require a new recording. Interviewers must be enrolled under the RSVP program, create an account on StoryCorp and be 55 or older.
