At Homeward Bound, our weekend Petco adoption events are a time of lots of joy - and lots of craziness! In the span of just a few hours over one or two days, during our busy season, we see literally dozens of cats and kittens go home to their forever families. That’s a lot of adoptions! These events call for level-headed, multi-tasking, people-savvy superstars to keep adopters on the right track, help out with what our Petco event lead needs, and of course, keep our kitties comfortable while they wait. We are looking for a handful of volunteers to help out with these weekend fun days! Volunteers are needed to:
- Arrive before or after the event to set-up and/or breakdown tables, kennels, seating, etc.
- Aid with checking in adopters as they arrive for their appointments, according to event protocol and priority
- Help with filling out paperwork, organizing adoption folders (with needed handouts, vaccine records, etc.), assisting with adoption counseling as needed
- Keeping our patient cats company; ensure they have blankets, water, food, etc. to stay comfy while they eye their future family
These weekend events typically run from 10:30am - 4:30pm (or earlier, if all our kitties are adopted before then!) on Saturday and Sunday (or just Saturday if, again, all our cats are adopted). Volunteers are not expected to work the entire event and we’ll gladly take any time you can spare before, during, or after! All we ask is volunteers are:
- Fit to stand, squat, bend, twist, and lift approx. 50 lbs (to set-up/breakdown)
- Comfortable in forward-facing, person-to-person interactions; there are lots of people here!
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-stress, multi-tasking environment
Our weekend events are a crazy time - but fulfilling. Every weekend you'll make happy families for humans and felines! Homeward Bound puts hundreds of cats with their people each year at these events, and we’d love for you to join us. Visit homewardboundcats.org to learn more about us and fill out a volunteer application!

Mission Statement
To maximize feline lifesaving in Las Vegas and beyond by supporting both people and cats.
Description
Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing support and resources to both cats and people in our community.
As a first priority, we strive to provide counseling, information, and access to services to keep cats in their homes and with the people who love them.
However, if cats cannot stay with their families or in their neighborhoods, we take great pride in providing a safe and caring placement program for cats who need us most. We prioritize our intake on cats most at risk - owned cats in need of rehoming; kittens who need specialized care; and cats who have been abandoned, are sick or injured, or are not thriving in the community.
We are committed to ensuring the highest level of attention and care for cats in accordance with the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare and industry best practices; where each policy, procedure, and decision is based on compassion, the best available science, and the best interest and welfare of each cat.
We also focus on positively impacting the lives of our volunteers, employees, guests, and community members by cultivating a collaborative environment based on respect and a non-judgmental approach to services.
With a holistic approach to providing the right support to fill resource gaps in our community, keeping cats with those who love them, and caring for and finding appropriate placement for cats that truly need rehoming, Homeward Bound maximizes feline lifesaving and improves the lives of our community’s people and cats.
