Position Objective:As a developing women’s non-profit, we are seeking a volunteer press writer to help us engage community news sources to generate outreach that will support our cause, allow us to continue developing programs, and reach more women and female-identified entrepreneurs who need help overcoming adversities.

Who You Are: You are a tech and word-savvy master of technical writing and journalism. You know how to compose an article worthy of print and publication that creatively portray the need of the organization. Your articles and work is print ready - for the press and your portfolio. Your efforts will have a direct impact in helping a not for profit women's professional and personal development organization deliver our message to a wider audience of women who need our services now more than ever.

You will be working directly with the Board of Directors to ensure you are supported and have all the tools you need for success in this endeavor. You will share in all your successes as we build our organization up because of the amazing resources and fundraising efforts you bring to the table.

Your Role:

  • You will be have a background in Journalism, English, Communication, or a related and relevant field.
  • You have a successful track record of printed or published articles and work in a variety of publications and social media outlets.
  • You enjoy the challenge of writing news pieces for a variety of outlets that will engage the audience and motivate them to act.
  • You will be working directly with the Board of Directors including a 1-on-1 weekly virtual meeting with a member of the Board to go over goals.
  • You will be key in helping us move forward in this space by connecting our organization with media contacts, press contacts, and archive all articles, publications, and mentions of the organization for outreach and programming.
  • You will be registered for free as an HBIC HQ Member for a year and featured in our Networking Directory.

COVID-19 considerations: Due to COVID-19 we have switched to a 100% Fully Remote Workplace, all meetings and offices are now virtual.

Description

Our organization promotes personal and professional development for women-identified individuals. As a not for profit entity, our foundation provides programs including scholarships and sponsorships by raising funds, via paid courses and membership, to promote professional and personal development skills and entrepreneurship; these programs directly support women-identified persons who are survivors of domestic abuse, homelessness, former foster youth, or faced other adversities.

Our programs include the following:

  • Women's Mentorship Training
  • Pave the Path to Success scholarships
  • Women's Startup Incubator Grant Program
  • Youth Leadership Intensive
These programs are designed to nurture women though education and community support as they learn personal and professional development skills to help them become the Head Boss* In Charge of their future.
