E-Commerce Specialist
The E-commerce Specialist will be responsible for determining the format and features of the NALZS merchandise website in order to maximize clarity and ease of navigation for customers. We are looking for someone with extensive experience with practices and techniques related to web merchandising or online retailing.
The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical person with strong technical skills. While the position is primarily virtual, potential candidates need to be located within 60 miles of Huntsville
The North Alabama Zoological Society is volunteer-run and this is a volunteer position. There is an understanding from the organization that the selected volunteer will be using their own free time to accomplish the tasks of this position and their ability to commit time will vary. The organization only expects follow-through on the tasks the volunteer has agreed to perform in the time agreed upon.
Job Function (duties and responsibilities):
- Sound knowledge of website management and eCommerce usability
- A background in e-commerce/retail/channel account management or product management
- Setup and monitor E-Commerce channel with product, pricing, and Customer Service issues
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate product restock as needed
- Collaborate with others to ensure product/pricing/promotional info is accurate
- Remain knowledgeable about relevant trends and innovations in e-commerce/retail
- Analyze sales activity to determine product performance and identify areas of improvement
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications, MS Access, and others
- Proactively identify issues and develop innovative solutions
- Excellent customer service skills
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in marketing or business
- At least 4 years of professional experience in related fields
Skills Required:
- Intermediate knowledge of inventory and sales reporting
- Experience with Wix, Shopify, Weebly, and Squarespace preferred
- Advanced written and verbal communication
- Self-starter who can complete tasks and manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to successfully partner cross-functionally with all business units, regulatory, legal, and finance
- Proactive and adept problem solver; ability to come up with inventive solutions
- Computer proficiency including MS Office, iPad, and web applications
- Extremely detail-oriented and highly organized
- Strong retail math and analytical skills
