Friends of the Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a volunteer leadership council. The committee supports and promotes the Botanical Garden through public engagement, events, membership, artisan activities and volunteer advocacy. Friends develop new initiatives to support the Botanical Garden as a Service Enterprise that uses volunteers and their skills across the organization in furtherance of its mission.

Description

The Greater Des Moines Botanical Garden is a vibrant 7-acre public garden in the heart of Des Moines that features 10 distinct gardens, including a water garden, conifer and gravel garden, rose garden and more. Our iconic geodesic conservatory features tropical and desert plants, which is the perfect escape from Iowa’s winter days.

  • Orientation or Training
  • Three-year term commitment. Volunteer 25 hours per year to the Botanical Garden through participation at meetings, attendance at events, sponsorship and other activities.
  • Lead or serve on at least one committee annually and assist on other committees, events and outreach. Attendance at Friends meetings. Minimum contribution of $100 annually to the organization.
