Do you have a passion for animal welfare? Are you seeking to make a difference by contributing your professional skills and knowledge to an organization that saves the lives of small animals? Apply to be a volunteer Communications Coordinatorwith Small Angels Rescue! This position offers a limited load of work responsibilities and tons of opportunities to learn!
Under the direction of SARI’s Chair of Communications and Marketing, you will be responsible for the management of our social media accounts, our quarterly e-newsletter Angel Alert, and other communications throughout the year. Here are some details of the responsibilities:
- Social Media: Manage our Instagram and Facebook accounts (daily posts). Monitor/moderate comments as necessary. Create graphics. Support special digital events eg fundraising campaigns/live broadcasts. Attend 30 min monthly planning meetings with the Communications Team.
- E-Newsletter/Website: Gather articles from animal teams; format articles, add graphics, edit copy using email marketing platform. Update contacts to database as needed. Create graphics for website/newsletter.
- General Projects: Collaborate with other teams for fundraising, events etc.

We are looking for someone with the following attributes:
- Self starter with enthusiasm, working well under supervision with a positive attitude and an interest in acquiring knowledge/problem solving and receiving feedback to improve job performance. Deadline and detail orientated with some communications experience preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of reels and carousel posts for Instagram; Hootsuite for Facebook and editing in a Wordpress websites a plus. Experience with Canva or another graphic design tool; Constant Contact or similar platform and basic CRM knowledge preferred but not required.
Training will be provided as needed and initially may require some additional hours.

The mission of Small Angels Rescue Inc. is to rescue rehabilitate and rehome gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats. These animals are worthy of respectful and compassionate treatment. We advocate and facilitate responsible animal care and companionship.
Description
Small Angels Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, no-kill, all-volunteer organization based in Frederick, MD. Small Angels works with animal shelters and adopters throughout the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan region and in neighboring states such as Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Small Angels works primarily with kill or open admission shelters where the animals could be euthanized. We use a network of foster homes to care for the animals until they find their adoptive homes. Small Angels has no paid staff or physical shelter; we are all volunteers who dedicate our time to answering adoption inquiries, assisting adopters, arranging transportation from shelters, working with foster families, caring for foster animals, arranging vet care, educating the public, and running the organization all from our homes.
