Volunteer with the Stewardship Team and the Eastern Queens Alliance to protect the forested areas in Idlewild Park! Volunteers will help us plants trees, remove debris and safely remove invasive plants in order to restore the forest and create a healthier ecosystem. NYC Parks staff will lead volunteers on a short hike to the work site and demonstrate all tasks for the day. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone.

The Stewardship Program is a service program that recruits, trains, and supports volunteers for ecological projects across the city. You can help keep New York City’s forests, wetlands, and coastlines thriving. Join us to plant trees, shrubs, and grasses; remove harmful invasive exotic vegetation; care for street tree beds; and remove debris from our wetlands.
