ChickTech is a national nonprofit dedicated to retaining womxn (female-identifying, non-binary and transgender women) in the technology workforce and increasing the number of womxn pursuing technology-based careers through signature programs for K-12 students and career level adults. The overarching goal of ChickTech is to increase diversity and inclusion within the technology culture through broadening the pipeline of underrepresented populations entering careers through non-traditional pathways, and increasing retention of these populations through a supportive community focused on enhancing career, leadership, inclusion, and engagement within and beyond the workplace. By building and enhancing an intergenerational community, ChickTech is ensuring companies can find untapped talent from diverse communities across the country while also building skills and interest for future generations to excel and create a diverse tech workforce.

We are looking for a High School Logistics Manager for the local chapter of ChickTech. The High School Logistics Manager is a community engagement position, liaising directly with the High School Program Director, providing support to the High School Program Team, representing ChickTech in the local community, and ensuring all logistical and event planning needs are being met and programs are running sustainably.

The perfect candidate for the High School Logistics Manager is a charismatic, trustworthy, responsible, and detail oriented. Has previous experience with event planning and project managing multifaceted events, has previous personal volunteer experience, and has a passion for empowering women.

Note: This is an unpaid volunteer position with options to work remotely.

Our ideal High School Logistics Manager candidate will have:

  • Experience with event planning and contract management
  • Experience with either nonprofits and/or the tech field
  • Experience with scheduling
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Good strategic and tactical thinking
  • The ability to work in a collaborative style and move others to action by planning, motivating, and organizing work tasks
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that establish and maintain credibility and relationships
  • A drive to improve the experience of girls and women in technology

Key High School Logistics Manager responsibilities include:

  • Executing the vision for the high school program and inspiring others to become a part of the ChickTech movement
  • Active participation in the High School planning team to achieve the ChickTech mission
  • Finding venues and facilitating the acquisition of supplies and materials as they relate to the high school program
  • Manages and coordinates contracts and event agreements and is responsible for communicating all budgeting needs and agreements with the High School Program Director
  • Ensure communication between planning team roles to guarantee that all logistics and program needs are being met.
  • Collaborate and maintain open lines of communication with the High School Program Director throughout the event planning process.
  • Ensure programs are run efficiently and effectively while providing a high quality experience for participants and volunteers.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation is created to help identify best practices, keep the program in line with the organization’s mission and philosophy, and ensure replicability for future volunteers

Expected time commitment: 5-10 hours/week, but this may vary. We ask that all leadership team members commit to one year of being on the team if possible, although less can be negotiated! Please be honest about your time commitments, while we realize it is difficult to forecast what you may be doing four or five months out, we ask potential leadership team members to try their best to upfront with any conflicts, either work or personal. ChickTech is a multi-generational community helping each other become technology creators. We facilitate hands-on technology-centric events and mentorship to empower, support, and increase the confidence of girls, women, and non-binary folks. Through our programs, we build community, empower participants to see themselves as leaders, and provide networking and mentoring opportunities in the rapidly growing tech industry.

As a mostly volunteer-run non-profit, we are always searching for partners who would like to get involved through donations of expertise, volunteer time, in-kind, funding, or just by helping to get the word out.
