Currently we are seeking a Vice-President & Secretary for the Board of Directors.

As a Board Member, you will help us to grow the organization by bringing your professional expertise and working with like-minded people who have a passion for our vision and mission. This is a position where you are involved in making executive decisions, helping us shape the next chapter of the organization and committed to helping us overcome challenges. This requires a serious commitment.

Vice President(s)

The vice president is the operations officer of the organization and in this capacity shall:

  • Perform those functions delegated to the vice president by the president.
  • Perform the duties of the president when the president is unable to perform them.
  • Serve as the chair of at least one committee that is operational in scope.
  • Meets with the President and Secretary to establish meeting agendas at least two weeks prior to the next meeting.
  • Sends out the meeting agenda to the Board at least one week prior to the next meeting.

Secretary

The secretary is the officer responsible for the records and correspondence of the organization and in this capacity shall:

  • Perform those functions delegated to the secretary by the president.
  • Safeguard all the records of the organization.
  • Record and retain the minutes of all board and executive committee meetings and collect and retain the minutes of all other committees meetings.
  • Give notice of meetings and distribute minutes and other documents as needed at least one week prior to the next meeting.
  • Meets with the President and Vice President to establish meeting agendas at least two weeks prior to the next meeting.
  • Serve as chair of one committee.

Expectations of Board Members:

  1. You must attend and actively participate in monthly Board and committee meetings.

  2. You must read and respond to all emails/correspondences within 24-48 business hours.

  3. You must complete and submit all expected reports timely.

  4. You must make a meaning financial contribution to the organization annually.

  5. You must assist the organization with promotions, activities, fundraising, etc.

  6. This position is an appointment through September 30, 2021.

The Process:

  3. After your video has been reviewed, if you are asked to move to the next step in the process, you will have a one-to-one interview with the Board President and/or an Office of the Board of Directors.

  4. If you are offered a position on the Board, you will immediately begin the onboarding process, including orientation and Board training. The start date will be immediate.

Better Foundations & Futures, Inc. was established in 2020 to face issues plaguing the advancement of our minority men. We focus on providing family connections and establishing/re-establishing solid foundations which in turn will set these men up for successful futures. Our vision is to see a better quality of life and opportunities for advancement for minority men. Our organization will provide services within our organizational programs to address needs for all minority men but specifically for focusing on those who have been incarcerated or emancipated from foster care. Our focus areas include the following:
