Our volunteers can go to homes or facilities and engage with the patients or families. We welcome any artistic, musically inclined(vocal and/or instrumental), or certified pet therapy volunteers. Some examples of what you could do are:

  • play cards/games
  • participate in life review
  • watch tv together
  • read to them
  • listen to music together
  • provide time away for the family
  • paint or draw
  • sing or play an instrument
For an administrative volunteer you could:
  • put together admission packets
  • fax/scan/copy
  • make cards
  • put together mailings
Vigil Volunteers would be sitting with an actively passing patient and/or their families to provide support and guidance.

Veteran Volunteers would be a veteran themselves, whom provide respectful inquiry, and compassionate listening to our vet patients. You would "pin" them and present them with a recognition award, which we provide.

Mission Statement

The valued mission of Comfort 1 Hospice is to provide quality care that optimizes the patient's comfort and dignity consistent with the goals and needs of the patient and family. Our team of professionals strive to do more than just what is required and expected of us. Our compassionate care is at the heart of what we do and why we exist.

Description

Comfort 1 Hospice was established in January 2018 and is accredited with ACHC. We stand by our philosophy of focusing on Treating the "Whole" Patient. Our compassionate care model stands out from other forms of healthcare due to its emphasis on holistically treating the patient. The goal of our hospice care team is to help the patient achieve a full life as possible, with minimal pain, discomfort, and restriction. It also emphasizes a coordinated team effort to help the patient and family members overcome the severe anxiety, fear, and depression that occur with a terminal illness. We are involved with We Honor Veterans, which is a program to care for and honor those who have served when they reach the end of life.
