ORGANIZATION: Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc.

Purpose/objective: I Support the Girls collects and distributes essential items, including bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress to stand tall with dignity.

A woman shouldn’t have to choose between feeding herself and her personal health. Every woman should have the ability to maintain her dignity.


Key Responsibilities:
* Sort and size to our quality standards all incoming clothing
* Record all materials put on the floor for client use
* Keep racks as full as possible based on incoming donations
* Organize all socks, underwear, and housewares weekly
* When time allows remove empty hangers from racks.
* Pull outdated inventory off racks
* Size shoes properly and restock shelves
* Assist in keeping clothing room clean and presentable
* Assist with restocking toiletries shelves
* Quickly determine if materials meet our standard and recycle if not

Qualifications:
* Good Communication Skills
* Task oriented
* Must be able to lift 30lbs

Programs Offered Through Seniors in Service:


Foster Grandparent Program (FGP)

  • The Foster Grandparent Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into schools and after-school programs to mentor at-risk and special needs children and provide them with one-on-one, individualized attention


Senior Companion Program (SCP)

  • The Senior Companion Program recruits senior volunteers (55+) to go into the homes of homebound, elderly clients and provide them with companionship and assistance.


Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

  • The RSVP Program recruits senior volunteers(55+) to participate more fully in the life of the community through volunteer service. The program matches the considerable wealth of knowledge, skills, and experience of this vital and rapidly growing age group with the addressing of critical needs and unresolved issues in our community.


Operation Veteran Connect

  • Provides companionship to veterans, enabling them to live independently. Supports the VA in supporting providing Whole Health support to veterans.
