We are seeking a Spoken Word Artist with previous experience or solid interest in teaching youth in grades 3-12. Artist will work with youth to help them examine their personal experiences and current events to develop concepts for their work and practice various ways to put those concepts into spoken word pieces. The goal is to encourage children to explore their creativity and unique perspectives and create at least 3 written works by the end of the semester.
Artist must be available for the full course of the semester (April 12-June 27th)
Able to conduct 1-2 classes each week with each session lasting one hour
Must be able to host the class(es) sometime between 2pm and 7pm Monday through Friday and/or 10am and 2pm Saturdays
Artist will prepare students to perform at our end of semester showcase and other potential I'RAISE events. Instructor may also be asked to perform at an event or two.
Maintain communication with program staff and parents to provide regular updates on student progress
