ORGANIZATION: NAMI LONG BEACH AREA

We're looking for that dedicated someone who can help our charity organization make regular content updates to our website to make people more aware about our services and education, and help us to de-stigmatize mental illness. We would also like the same person to review our monthly social media content calendar.

The position requires no more than 10-12 hours per month, and you would be helping a very worthy cause!

Website updates include:
--- monthly postings regarding special events and our Featured Speakers series, and then to update our YouTube channel with the resulting video recordings.
--- Updating the events calendar with class and support announcements.
--- Updating the site with new mental health resources that our community is looking for
--- SEO updates (writing descriptive but pithy copy for each web page)

Social media includes:
--- Monthly content calendar review and copy writing/editing

Other tasks and items can be added consistent with your experience such as updating Google forms, copy writing & copy editing, creating graphics, helping to add video content to our new YT channel, and so on.

Mission Statement

NAMI Long Beach Area is part of the country's largest grassroots organization active in the mental health sector, the National Alliance on Mental Illness. We support people with mental illness, their families, caregivers and friends by offering education classes, support groups, awareness workshops and community trainings. We aim to educate individuals and raise awareness in the broader community about mental illness and mental health conditions, to overcome stigma often associated with mental illness, and advocate for more appropriate resources and policies to support mental health conditions. NAMI Long Beach Area partners with community-based organizations such as schools, health organizations, business, law enforcement, legal advocacy, and youth organizations.

NAMI Long Beach Area is dedicated to improving the lives of individuals affected by mental illness, and their families, by providing mental health education, support and advocacy. We want you to know that You Are Not Alone.

  • We serve the city of Long Beach and a wide area beyond, including many neighboring cities and communities.
  • No matter where you live, you are welcome to attend our classes and support groups (currently online) if our location and services.
