The Washington Hospital Service League is seeking a treasurer to keep its books. This volunteer assignment is best suited to someone familiar with accounting principles and Quickbooks. If you are a recently retired CPA in the East Bay or South Bay looking to give back, this would be a wonderful opportunity to use your skills to support a volunteer organization with great longevity and wonderful members.
The treasurer prepares monthly financials for the board of trustees and an annual budget for board approval. In addition, the annual Service League audit requires the collection of financial documents for the preceding year. The financials are not complicated but require an attention to detail to keep them current.
The board of directors, including the treasurer, is supported by a professional staff member who is dedicated full time to the Service League and is backed up by the Finance department of Washington Hospital.
For someone with financial acumen, this is a wonderful volunteer opportunity to work in a lively, fun environment with really good people. We will ensure a smooth handoff with the incumbent treasurer and will provide ongoing support. There is no pay, but there is a lot of joy!

The mission of the Washington Hospital Service League is to make a difference by helping others. Volunteers work closely with Washington Hospital Healthcare System professionals to do just that -- providing care and support to Washington Hospital patients, families and visitors.
Description
Since its founding in 1955, three years before Washington Hospital actually opened its doors, the Washington Hospital Service League has provided more than 1.8 million hours of service and donated more than $2.2 million to the Hospital. Volunteers serve in a variety of assignments including:
- Greeting patients and visitors in the lobby
- Discharging patients from their room to their ride
- Delivering flowers to patient rooms
- Serving in the gift shop
- Providing support in the surgical waiting room
- Assisting at public seminars, health screenings and Hospital events
- Supporting patient care in the nursing units
