ORGANIZATION: Pancreatic Cancer Action Network - Central Florida Affiliate

Are you a leader? Always the person to take charge and take lead of a group? We have the perfect opportunity for you!

We are seeking a local volunteer leader to assist year round with managing and recruiting volunteers for our annual Pancreatic Cancer Action Network PurpleStride 5k run/walk as well as other random small events throughout the year to recruit volunteers and help raise awareness and provide advocacy towards Pancreatic Cancer here in Central Florida.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Recruit and effectively manage a sub-committee chair to support your efforts around planning and logistics or event day volunteers.
  • Collaborate with other committee chairs to define volunteer needs and availability. Outline volunteer instructions for each position and schedule volunteers as needed.
  • Actively recruit volunteers to fill the defined needs.
  • Regularly communicate with volunteers from the time they apply through each event. Welcome them, figure out the best placement for their desires and skills, outline what to expect, send reminders and answer questions,
  • Onsite volunteer coordination for our annual PurpleStride 5k run/walk Welcome and check in, train and instruct as necessary and direct to designated assignments. Reassign as necessary to ensure high priority areas are covered.
  • Check-out and excuse all event day volunteers at the completion of the event.
  • Post event volunteer appreciation.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage priorities

The organization raises money for direct private funding of research--and advocates for more aggressive federal research funding of medical breakthroughs in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network fills the void of information and options by giving patients and caregivers reliable, personalized information they need to make informed decisions. The organization helps support individuals and communities all across the country work together to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for pancreatic cancer. We create a sense of hope and community so no one has to face pancreatic cancer alone.
