Call on your problem-solving skills and compassion to help at-risk elders.

The Money Management Program at Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) assists elders and adults with disabilities who have difficulty paying bills and managing their basic living expenses for many reasons, including vision impairments, memory difficulties, and physical disabilities. The goal of the program is to help individuals maintain their independence for as long as possible.

Volunteering for the Money Management Program

The Money Management volunteer assists with tasks such as establishing a budget, monitoring income and expenses, writing checks and balancing a checkbook, sorting bills, reconciling bank statements, and developing a repayment plan. Money management volunteers meet with consumers once or twice each month for approximately 1-2 hours per visit.

Money Management volunteers (and all MVES volunteers) must be age 18 or older, reside in the State of Massachusetts (USA) at the time of their volunteer service, and be able to travel to locations within the MVES service area, including Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, North Reading, Reading, Revere, Stoneham, Wakefield and/or Winthrop.

We serve a diverse population, including many who speak languages other than English. Bi-lingual or multi-lingual individuals (especially Cantonese/Mandarin, Haitian-Creole and Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
