Please note that this particular opportunity is ONLY open to high school students. With 18 medical specialty committees actively operating in the organization, members (regardless of position) can participate ALL of in the following initiatives for each committee that they select. 1) Curriculum Production

By the end of 2020, our members collectively produced hundreds of curriculum lessons within our medical committees! Each lesson includes an article and/or resource, worksheet, and interactive activity; while members work on producing articles and resources, the Committee Leaders, Initiatives Coordinators, and the Director work on proper formatting, editing, etc. We are currently in the process of aligning material with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), as we are aiming for implementation in schools in workshops. Each month, our members write articles and create informative resources for units, which are specific topics / concepts pertaining to that respective committee. All 18 of our committees are currently working on curriculum, from Anatomy to Trauma!

2) Project Cultivation (Global Networking & Presentations)

Our members and 18 medical committees produce scientifically accurate presentations relating to well-being, health, STEAM, etc. and their pertinence with a common theme / field (of medicine). Through these presentations, we discuss the fundamentals of relevant topics to students internationally, emphasizing its importance and main takeaways. With this said, the main goal of this initiative is to impart information about medicine, as well as general wellness, in a simplified manner. Our co-CEOs, Committee Leaders, and high school volunteers aim to fulfill this mission one student audience at a time; so far, this initiative has expanded internationally, as we have presented to schools in New York City, the Philippines, Mexico, etc.

3) Online Course Creation

Though new, our production of online courses will correspond with curriculum lessons as an "extension" of the material; considering there are lessons that were already produced from 2020, each committee will start on producing online course content from these previous units. Since the curriculum itself focuses on general and simplified concepts, each online course lesson explains the medical concepts in more depth, incorporates advanced material, etc. In each section (lesson) within the course’s units - presentations, lectures, assignments, assignments, quizzes, and videos are created by our members, Committee Leaders, and Initiatives Coordinators. We are also aiming to implement these courses, in addition to our standard curriculum, in schools and workshops.

4) Committee Research (Literature Reviews)

Considering that numerous research opportunities were canceled this year due to the pandemic, members can participate in writing a literature review - which is essentially described to be a "scholarly paper" focusing on an analysis of modern research. The estimated total duration of each literature review will be about 3 months (12-13 weeks) long, which includes generating the topic / research question, planning for introduction paragraphs, body paragraphs, discussion section, conclusion paragraph, and abstract. Essentially, while each member has the opportunity to conduct independent research reviews, Medicine Encompassed guides everyone through each step of the process with the help of our advisors.

5) Committee Webinar Sessions

Our organization aims to feature medical professionals working in the respective branches of our 17 medical committees. As suggested by our mission, the purpose of holding webinars with medical professionals is for our students to gain a more educational scope of the medical field - many of our members and volunteers are aspiring medical professionals as well! Being able to provide them with direct insight and guidance from other doctors, surgeons, etc. will enable them to develop connections and identify / select their potential careers; our students will also be able to hear other professionals’ experiences first-hand! Because webinars are conducted for each of our committees, members in these departments can broaden their knowledge on a specific specialty. Community service hours are given for attending webinars.
