Alz Walk Volunteers
Petaluma Walk. Make a Difference!

Over 5 million Americans suffer from Alzheimer's disease, and it is the 6th leading cause of death in the United States. The Alzheimer’s Association is a volunteer-driven organization, and we are looking for passionate volunteers to serve on the planning committee for the 2021 Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's. We are looking for natural leaders, creative types, resourcefulness, people with a can-do attitude, a good sense of humor, a willingness to step up and help out, and those who want to meet others who also care deeply about ending Alzheimer's. Whatever your talents, we have a role for you! We are physically located in San Jose, CA, and are seeking volunteers from all over the Bay Area. At this time all opportunities are virtual until it is safe to gather together.

The full committee meets monthly, and we are actively seeking new members for 2021. We are currently meeting virtually until it's safe to do so in person.

In addition to the monthly meeting, Sub-Committees also meet once a month, and there are additional activities that you can complete on your own time.

Committees roles include:

  • Retention - Do you like to build relationships? Are you good at coaching? Like to make phone calls? Join us!
  • Company Engagement - Do you work in the corporate world and have many connections on LinkedIn? Are you unafraid to ask a local Company to support the Walk to End Alzheimer's by forming a Corporate Team or Sponsoring the Walk? This might be the committee for you!
  • Recruitment - Are you a social butterfly with lots of connections? Do you belong to a Fraternal Club or Sorority? Do you have connections with faith-based organizations or local chambers? Do you enjoy talking to people and offering encouragement? We need you on the Recruitment team.
  • Mission - Do you have a deep personal connection to Alzheimer's & Dementia? Want to share your story with others? Help us bring awareness of Alzheimer's and our fight to end it by joining our Mission Committee. If you like writing personal notes and cards, this might be the committee for you.
  • Logistics - Are you a project manager? Are details your thing? Event planning in your blood? We can use your help!
  • Marketing & Outreach - Are you a Social Media Influencer? Do you have connections in the media? Is writing your thing? We could use you!

Mission Statement

The Alzheimer's Association is the leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer care, support and research. Our mission: To eliminate Alzheimer's disease through the advancement of research; to provide and enhance care and support for all affected; and to reduce the risk of dementia through the promotion of brain health. Our vision, A world without Alzheimer's disease.

Description

We provide programs and support services for patients, families, caregivers, and others in the San Francisco Bay Area affected by Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. Outside the federal government, the Alzheimer's Association is the largest research funder in the country and offers advocacy opportunities to make public policy change.

At the Alzheimer's Association, diversity and inclusion are vital to our mission. The Association leads strategic initiatives to support diversity and a culture of inclusivity. These strategic initiatives also strengthen outreach to all populations, providing communities with resources and support to address the Alzheimer’s crisis. By partnering with organizations locally and nationally to advance diversity and inclusion, the Association can broaden its reach in all communities.
