ORGANIZATION: Inside Health Institute

Position Description:

Inside Health Institute (IHI) is seeking 5-10 Donation Procurement and Donor Management volunteers to help us prepare year-round for our Quarterly Silent Auctions.

Why Quarterly Silent Auctions?

Fundraising has become much more competitive in the COVID-19 world because potential event attendees are now less likely to support local organizations, instead choosing to access virtual fundraisers from larger organizations across the country. Furthermore, the average donation per individual is decreasing, both due to the financial pressures of COVID-19 employment impacts and because virtual events are generally less engaging than in-person events.

Therefore, Inside Health Institute has adjusted its approach, lowering revenue generation expectations for individual fundraisers and increasing the frequency of them. To reduce the likelihood of donor burnout, we're providing events (like the silent auction) that offer a tangible reward to attendees (in this case, products) for the money they choose to spend/donate. These efforts require year-round support from creative, passionate, and reliable volunteers!

Responsibilities :

  • Research and identify new companies who have not yet been contacted and may be able to donate a product/service for an upcoming silent auction (and who ethically align with IHI's values)
  • Send emails and fill out online forms to request silent auction donations from companies across the country (minimum six requests per week; email templates are available)
  • Promptly respond to follow-up emails from companies, answering questions as needed
  • Ensure that customized donor requests are honored during or following the silent auction
  • Prepare 2-4 sentence product descriptions and/or advertising materials for donations procured
  • Collaborate with the PR/Marketing Committee Chair and the Event Planning Committee Chair as appropriate

Skills and Qualifications :

  • Strong written communication skills, exceptional grammar, and impeccable email etiquette
  • Comfort emailing companies with whom no relationship has been established yet
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Experience collaborating within Google Sheets and Google Docs
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and perform tasks with little supervision
