A Big Brother or Big Sister takes the time to listen, give advice and lets a child know what they have to say is meaningful. It's sitting down and listening to what's going on in a child's life, it's trips to the park, afternoons shopping, watching a movie or playing a sport, but most of all it's fun and rewarding! Volunteers come from all walks of life, economic levels, job situations and backgrounds. Almost anyone can be a "Big"; you must be 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license and be able to commit to seeing a child for only 4 hours a month. Mission Statement
We provide quality services to volunteers and children between the ages of 7-14 years who reside in the area between Dartmouth and Wareham. Through a committed one on one relationship with a caring individual, children will benefit from the relationship and have that assistance to grow into caring, responsible adults.
Description
A willingness to commit to four hours a month for a minimum of a year is required to sustain the relationship. Currently, there are approximately 100 children on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister.
