This is an extraordinary volunteer Board of Directors opportunity for an individual with Senior Level Executive (Director or above level) experience to grow and develop a newly launched international nonprofit (post prelaunch phase). The nonprofit is geared towards raising awareness and improving access to substance use disorders, and related mental health disorders. A successful Board Member will assist with leading the charge in fulfilling the organization's mission, partnering with the Executive Director (ED), and working collaboratively to manage a high-performance management team. We are looking for executives on a VP or C level to partner with our organization and lend your field expertise. The ideal candidate will be passionate about substance use disorders and mental health in low- and middle-income countries as well as the African Diaspora in the New England region.

About the Executive Director

We are looking for an Executive director who is Action oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, innovative, and self-directed. The desirable candidate will have a proven track record of managing people, developing a high-performance team, managing budgets, and achieving goals. The executive director must feel comfortable speaking in public, about the objective and success of the organization. More importantly, the candidate must communicate passion and excitement for the organization’s mission in public messages.

The ideal candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, offers high value in the non-profit world. The director will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, many of which include diverse groups and cultures, and it is important for the director to be able to collaborate, connect, and leave a good impression. We are looking for an executive director candidate with past successes in relationships and collaboration with prior boards of directors.

About the Role of Board Director

The Primary role of the Board is to raise funds for the operating budget of the organization and to leverage network and contacts to further the organization's mission. However, the board also ensures that the organization is fiscally responsible and accountable, and that the leadership is well trained/advised on major decisions.

We are specifically looking for leaders who represent POSITIVITY, LEADERSHIP and DIVERSITY in the following industries: Healthcare (Clinician and Administrative), Marketing/Branding, Entertainment (TV/Film/Radio/Print), Arts (Theater, Dance, Fine Arts, Vocal, Technical), Finance (CPA or Banking), Education/Government, Event Planning/Fundraising (Committee Chair) and Corporate Development

This position is a volunteer Board Member position. The minimum requirement of time is usually 4-5 hours a week for the Executive director and 2-3 hour per month for the Board members. The average Board term is 1-2 years. The Board meetings are monthly. The annual board financial commitment.

Mission Statement

YAF’s mission is trifold: 1) Dedication to raising awareness about Disordered substance use of Alcohol and Opioids. Primary target population is school age students and young adults. 2) Social mobilization and community sensitization- primary target population is adults including parents, educators, and policy makers. 3) On-going health education and support for addictions specialists including addictions nurses, doctors, and other allied health practitioners.

Your Ally Foundation, Inc is a nonprofit recently wrapped up the pre-launch phase and actively embarking on the launch phase. We are looking for volunteers especially an executive director to spearhead this. Ms. Susan Wilkinson the founder of the organization is a psychiatric nurse practitioner by training and her burning desire is to raise awareness and improve access to substance use treatment. Overall, our target population is low and middle-income countries as well as in the African diaspora in the New England area. Currently we are establishing operations in Uganda and Zambia with plans to expand to other low- and middle-income countries on the African Continent. We are yet to fundraise, we are pretty much setting up for partnerships with fundraising, academic partnerships, community partnerships among others.
