Help us tell our story - Architects Without Borders Seattle (AWBS)
AWBS is seeking a volunteer filmmaker to create a one to two minute video to connect supporters to our mission and be used in fundraising efforts.
About Architects Without Borders Seattle (AWBS)
Founded in 2005 by a group of Seattle architects and designers in response to a devastating tsunami, Architects Without Borders Seattle volunteers collaborate with underserved communities to deliver ecologically sensitive, culturally appropriate, life-changing design. AWBS is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit. Volunteers are fundamental to our work as all of our project work is completely volunteer led and assisted.
AWBS Core Values:
Appropriate design solutions are vital to communities and the environment
Collaborative long-term relationships with communities are essential to providing effective design assistance
Exchange of knowledge and skills can empower both communities and designers
Interdisciplinary teams create innovative and insightful projects
Volunteer passion, energy and efforts make our work possible
AWBS volunteers have led design efforts for projects which deliver:
Empowerment through education (Mission of Hope, Liberia)
Responsible disposal of human waste to mitigate human impact (Mt Everest Biogas Project, Nepal)
Safe and dignified housing for people experiencing homelessness (The BLOCK project, Seattle, Washington)
Project Objective
Create a one to two minute video sharing the story of AWBS’s work and volunteers to raise awareness about our mission and to be used for fundraising purposes.
Audience
The video is intended to inspire our donors to contribute in the Spring of 2021. Donors are typically individuals, and firms within the Architecture & Engineering Community, as well as Construction and Real Estate Development Firms.
Distribution Strategy
We will be sharing this video on our website, through social media and email campaigns for May 2021 Give Big Campaign, a website supporting nonprofits in Washington State.
Deliverables
We are looking to produce a video with a duration of no more than 2 minutes to introduce the mission of AWBS, highlight our volunteers and tell the story of a project, and will include a clear call to action to donate to AWBS. Based on the availability and interest of the volunteer, additional film opportunities may be available after spring. All activity will put safety first in light of COVID-19 and required protocols.
Timeline
The video shall be complete by April 17, 2021
Budget
This is a volunteer task. AWBS will credit the filmmaker to recognize their contribution to our mission. The video will be posted to our social media accounts and in our newsletter with over 2000 followers. Volunteer passion fuels our mission, and we are happy to provide testimonials or recommendations to support the volunteer.
Application Process
Please send a statement of interest and relevant work samples to AWBS Executive Director, Melissa K Neher at melissa@awb-seattle.org by March 17th.
